Fukuoka Kinen Hospital

Fukuoka Memorial Hospital, originally established as Otsuka Surgical Clinic in January of 1959, changed its name to Fukuoka Memorial Hospital in 1965. Over the years, it has played a crucial role as a core hospital for emergency medical care in the southwestern region of Fukuoka. Since 1998, it has operated as an open hospital, fostering close relationships with local clinics and medical institutions, supporting community healthcare.

As part of the social medical corporation Daiseikai, Fukuoka Memorial Hospital collaborates with Fukuoka Memorial PET and Health Check Center to provide community-based healthcare, offering acute medical care at Fukuoka Memorial Hospital and preventive medicine and health management at the health check center.

Guided by the principle of providing safe and trusted medical care desired by local residents, Fukuoka Memorial Hospital offers services in internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, urology, radiology, pediatrics, and 36 other departments. Each department strives to deliver modern medical care in line with contemporary standards and pursue high-quality specialization, aiming to become a comprehensive hospital.

The hospital is equipped with advanced medical devices such as 320-row CT, 1.5T MRI, 3.0T MRI, PET-CT, linear accelerators, and gamma knives to perform more precise examinations while minimizing patient discomfort. As an emergency designated hospital, it provides 24-hour emergency care for patients arriving by ambulance or self-referral, from minor to severe cases. These efforts have been recognized, and in December 2016, the hospital received endorsement as a “Japan International Hospital.”

Fukuoka Memorial Hospital is committed to practicing its mission of providing safe and trusted medical care desired by local residents. It aims to earn the trust not only of patients but also of the entire community and local medical practitioners by striving to deliver exemplary healthcare.

Patient-centered healthcare

The four principles of medical care include “respect for patient autonomy,” “non-maleficence,” “beneficence,” and “justice and fairness.” It is essential for all staff to thoroughly respect the personality and rights of patients.
To uphold these principles, it is necessary to explain the treatment and provide healthcare that satisfies the patient. We aim to adhere to the patient’s right to knowledge and decision-making, and provide healthcare that is fully explained and agreed upon.

Appropriate medical standards

In order for patients to be able to choose their treatments, medical professionals are required to actively provide necessary knowledge. Additionally, constant efforts to acquire specialized knowledge and skills are necessary to provide understandable information. The hospital aims to establish support systems for staff efforts. To conduct appropriate medical care, we believe “evidence-based medicine,” “ethics-based medicine,” and “collaborative team medicine utilizing expertise” are crucial.
In recent years, specialization in medicine has progressed, leading to further subdivision of medical techniques that each physician excels in. Collaboration becomes crucial, such as delegating tasks to others who excel in areas that are not one’s own specialty. We aim to enhance team medicine by gathering highly skilled physicians at our hospital.
